Mandated Reporter Training

This training is presented by Dane County CPS Staff

Training objectives:

    1. Understand Chapter 48 definitions of maltreatment

    2. Understand the child welfare system and process when CPS is contacted.

    3. Understand the information needed when making a CPS report and commit to providing all needed information.

    4. Apply critical thinking and analyze the situation to see if a report needs to be made or the family’s needs might be better met through a community resource.

    5. Understand the power differential and how invasive a CPS investigation can be to a family .

    6. Be aware of themes of race, oppression, power & privilege and how that impacts who is reported to CPS and how that plays out throughout the system.

    7. Participate in WI DCF Child welfare transformation and how that applies to mandated reporting.
