Dane County Agencies Fulfill Lifelong Dream To Visit Golden Gate Bridge

Delta Airlines, The Arc-Dane County, Dane County Regional Airport Partner To Award Angela Campbell
Madison, WI – Today, County Executive Joe Parisi, Airport Director Kim Jones, The Arc-Dane County Executive Director Anne Stephens, and Delta Air Lines surprised Angela Campbell with a round-trip experience to visit the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California.
“We are excited to provide Angela with the opportunity to travel to San Francisco and view the Golden Gate Bridge,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi. “A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped make her dream come true. We know this trip to San Francisco means a lot to Angela, and we hope she makes some great memories while there.”
With support from these agencies as well as Visit San Francisco, Angela, an award-winning student with an intellectual development disorder and member of The Arc-Dane County, will now be able to accomplish her lifelong dream of seeing the Golden Gate Bridge.
“We are so pleased to see Angela's dream come true and the world become more accessible for her,” said Executive Director of The Arc-Dane County Anne Stevens. “The Arc-Dane County was honored to be a part of this project.”
Earlier this year, Angela won the Self Advocate Award. While accepting her award and giving her speech, Angela described her dream to see the Golden Gate Bridge in her lifetime. Not only is this a dream, Angela is an avid collector and aficionado regarding all facts and figures surrounding the Golden Gate Bridge, with a large collection of books and models of her favorite man-made wonder of the world.
“We are honored to be able to help Angela achieve her life-long goal,” said Airport Director Kim Jones. “Thank you to our community partners who make special opportunities like this possible.”
The Arc advocates for and serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), including Down syndrome, autism, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, cerebral palsy and other diagnoses.
