Sheriff's Office
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming a new class of deputies. Four deputies will be sworn in by Sheriff Kalvin Barrett on Thursday, January 23rd, at 1:30 pm in the Public Safety Building. They are:
• Nicholas Baranski, age 26 of Sun Prairie, WI
• Edgar Hernandez, age 21 of Markesan, WI
• Wali Souvannasone, age 50 of Verona, WI
• Daniel Witherill, age 21 of Sun Prairie, WI
The group brings various experiences and backgrounds to the Sheriff’s Office. Depending on their prior level of training, new deputies will attend the Dane County Sheriff’s Office Jail and/or Law Enforcement Academies and receive on-the-job training. Their first assignment will be in the Dane County Jail, where they will serve a two-year probationary period. The positions became available due to retirements and vacancies that occurred in the past year. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office continually recruits for deputy and civilian positions to fill vacancies as they happen. Applications can be found online at www.teamdane.com. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
