MADISON - Dane County Executive Melissa Agard today kicked off Women’s History Month, celebrating the remarkable contributions of women throughout history and reaffirming the county’s commitment to advancing equity and opportunity for all.

“March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the countless ways that women have shaped our society, our culture, and our future.” said County Executive Agard. “Dane County has been built on the hard work of our community, including many incredible women who have helped make this a wonderful place to live and work. I am honored to celebrate their achievements this month, and every month.”

Women have played a vital role in the growth and progress of Dane County, from leadership in government to innovation in business, education, and social services. Their resilience, ingenuity, and dedication have paved the way for future generations to succeed.

“As we uplift the successes and contributions of women past and present, we also reaffirm our commitment to making Dane County an equitable place where everyone has the resources and opportunities they need to thrive,” Agard added.

Agard is only the second elected woman to serve as Dane County Executive, following in the footsteps of Kathleen Falk, who led the county for 14 years and blazed a trail for women in leadership. “Kathleen Falk was a pioneer, and I stand on the shoulders of strong women like her,” Agard said. “Her leadership and vision helped shape Dane County into what it is today, and I am proud to continue building on that legacy.”
