MADISON, WI – Dane County Regional Airport (DCRA) reached a historic milestone in 2025, serving nearly 2.5 million passengers and surpassing its previous all-time record set in 2019 by nearly 100,000 travelers. The achievement reflects sustained growth in demand for air travel and the airport’s expanding role as a key transportation and economic driver for the region.
The record-breaking passenger total reflects not only a substantial increase over 2019 volumes, but also a 6% rise compared to 2024, reinforcing the airport’s long-term growth trajectory as the region’s convenient airport of choice. Contributing to the increase is new and returning air service in 2025, including the return of summer seasonal service to Los Angeles, added flights to New York–LaGuardia, seasonal nonstop additions to Phoenix, Fort Myers, and Miami, and the first year of Breeze Airways operating out of Madison.
Dane County Executive Melissa Agard emphasized the broader regional impact of the milestone. “Record passenger volume reflects confidence in the future of Dane County,” said Dane County Executive Melissa Agard. “A thriving airport is an economic engine that supports local business growth, attracts visitors, and makes it easier to recruit and retain talent. The airport’s success creates momentum that benefits our entire community.”
“This record-breaking year is a powerful indicator of how strongly our community continues to embrace Dane County Regional Airport,” said Mark Papko, executive director of the airport. “More travelers are choosing to Fly Local because of the convenience, amenities, and expanding nonstop flight options we offer.”
With passenger volumes at an all-time high and demand continuing to rise, DCRA is well-positioned for future growth. In the past two months, the airport announced two new nonstop flights from Madison to Boston on American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, as well as new nonstop service to Raleigh on Breeze Airways, each starting in the spring of 2026. The airport continues to invest in upgraded facilities and amenities to ensure a smooth and enjoyable travel experience.
“Setting a new all-time passenger record sends a clear signal to our airline partners that our market is strong and growing,” Papko added. “We are grateful for the travelers of the region for choosing to Fly Local, and our staff, airlines, vendors, and travel partners in helping make this achievement possible.”
Dane County Regional Airport provides convenient, low-stress, and affordable travel options for both leisure and business travelers, offering nonstop service to 19 destinations and one-stop access to nearly every major city worldwide. The airport continues to invest in terminal improvements and passenger amenities, including new and updated dining options, free Wi-Fi, Mother’s Lounges, children’s play areas, meeting rooms, and an indoor pet relief area.
