The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with the Madison Police Department to boost traffic enforcement and promote safe driving habits among drivers.
Dane County Sheriff’s deputies will focus on enforcing laws against impaired driving, seatbelt use, and excessive speeding. Traffic safety grants from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, fund these efforts.
“Our goal here is not to write tickets; our goal is to make Dane County roads safer for everyone,” said Sheriff Kalvin Barrett. “The reason we inform the public of these enforcement efforts is so they can be proactive. Change your driving habits before you encounter one of our deputies on the road.”
As of February 22nd, Dane County has already experienced four traffic fatalities this year. Let’s all do our part to prevent these senseless tragedies. Give driving your full attention, buckle up, slow down, and drive sober.
