Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk issued the following statement regarding Governor Doyle’s appointment of Ray Wosepka as Dane County Coroner.  Wosepka will serve out the remainder of the term of former Coroner John Stanley who passed away September 13th.  Wosepka previously served as Dane County Coroner from 1988 through 2000.

“Thanks to Governor Doyle for this great appointment.  As coroner for many years previously, Ray Wosepka brings the right combination of compassion, experience, and professionalism to this difficult job.  Ray’s willingness to return to public service on behalf of Dane County citizens is most appreciated.

Ray will carry on a long-tradition of excellence in the Dane County Coroner’s Office.

I commend Interim Coroner Kurt Karbusicky and all the men and women of the Dane County Coroner’s Office for their continued hard work and perseverance during what has been a most difficult time for them.  In addition to coping with the loss of their friend and co-worker John Stanley, they have also coordinated, with great professionalism, a number of difficult investigations in recent weeks.

I also thank Governor Doyle for his quick action on this appointment to ensure the Coroner’s Office continues to operate at the highest level.”
