Driver Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit

At 9:32 p.m., a Dane County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a black pick-up truck speeding on Highway 51, near Highway B, in the Town of Dunn. The truck was traveling 83mph in a 55mph posted zone. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop, but the driver of the truck refused to stop and continued north on Highway 51. The truck briefly slowed down at Highway 51 and Dyreson Road and a passenger jumped out.

The pursuit continued north on Highway 51. A Deputy deployed road spikes at Highway 51, south of Voges Road. The suspect’s vehicle drove over the road spikes and a tire deflated. The vehicle continued for a short distance and came to rest in the grassy ditch area east of Highway 51 (Stoughton Road) near Pflaum Road.

The driver, Travis J. Adams, 40 of Madison, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated – 4th Offense. He was booked into the Dane County Jail on a charge of Eluding and a Parole Hold. Adams was also cited for Speeding and Open Intoxicants. The passenger was later located and there are no pending charges on him.

The pursuit lasted seven minutes and traveled approximately 6.8 miles. No one was injured during the pursuit.
