The Dane County Park Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2013 Parks Permit Fees at their regular meeting on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 5:15 PM at Lyman F. Anderson Agriculture & Conservation Center, 5201 Fen Oak Drive (formerly 1 Fen Oak Court), Madison, WI 53718.  The public hearing will begin at 5:30 PM.

“Dane County Parks charges service fees in the form of user permits to help offset the operation and maintenance costs associated with various park activities,” said Darren Marsh, Parks Director.  These fees allow Dane County Parks to provide services specific to these activities. There are also a number of facilities managed by multiple communities in cooperative fee programs.  These include, lake access sites, dog exercise areas and cross-country ski trails.

The Dane County Park Commission has the responsibility to set the fee structure for services provided in the County Parks. “I believe the County Parks Division has worked hard to control costs while still maintaining a level of service that our patrons have come to expect. Our fees help to offset the costs of Parks operations,” stated Park Commission Chair Bill Lunney.  “The Parks Division staff work closely with our recreational user groups to help plan recreational facilities and balance the level of services with budget constraints,” Lunney added.

Several new County facilities have recently opened or will open in the spring of 2013. These include a large regional dog exercise area, which is now open within the Capital Springs Recreation Area and an additional nine holes at the now 27-hole Vallarta-Ast Disc Golf Course at Token Creek Park. Due to the drought of 2012, the opening of an 18-Hole Disc Golf Course at Capital Springs Recreation Area has been delayed until the spring of 2013.

Permits may be purchased in a variety of ways: online at www.reservedane.com, at the County parks, and at the Parks office (5201 Fen Oak Drive).
