Distinct Accreditation Held by Only Seven 9-1- 1 Centers in the World

Dane County’s fire and police call procedures have achieved the ‘Center of Excellence’ accreditation from the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED), Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announced today.

That makes Dane County’s Public Safety Communications (PSC) only the seventh agency worldwide to have a triple Accredited Center of Excellence status for fire, medical, and law enforcement calls.

Only agencies that provide superior, up-to-date public care and efficient resource utilization to achieve maximum results in emergency situations achieve status as an  IAED Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE).

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi applauded the efforts of PSC staff that worked to achieve this prestigious goal.

“Dane County’s Public Safety Communications staff have worked tirelessly to improve every aspect of our 9-1-1 system. Becoming one of only seven Triple Accredited Centers of Excellence shows their commitment to providing the best service for Dane County residents,” said Parisi.

"This accreditation is a testimony to the excellent work the PSC staff is doing,” said Dane County 9-1-1 Director John Dejung.  “The accreditation requires specialized training and follow-on quality assurance efforts that prove the staff is well-prepared to do their jobs for the sake of residents and the first responders who rely on PSC".

Accredited Centers of Excellence all work toward improving public care and maximizing the efficiency of 9-1-1 systems. There are a growing number of ACE agencies across the U.S. and in other countries, but there currently are only six other agencies worldwide with a triple certification.

Dane County was awarded the triple accreditation in Salt Lake City on Wednesday at the IAED conference. The  IAED is a non-profit organization that promotes safe and effective emergency dispatch services around the world.
