Orders Remain for Lake Waubesa, Crystal Lake

The Slow/No Wake Order issued for Lake Kegonsa will be removed at sunrise on Thursday, July 4th and the order for Lake Monona will be lifted at sunrise on Friday, July 5th.  This decision is consistent with the declaration issued on June 27th which established benchmarks for the lifting of the slow/no wake orders.

The Slow/No Wake Orders for Lakes Waubesa and Crystal will remain in effect due to high water levels.  Water levels in Lake Waubesa continue to decline and are expected to fall enough to lift the order within the next few days.  The Crystal Lake order will remain in effect indefinitely.

Favorable weather conditions over the past week, after one of the wettest seasons on record, have helped reduce lake levels.

Under Slow/No Wake, boats must move as slowly as possible while still maintaining steering control and produce no wake.

Violators may be subject to citation and fine by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.  The Sheriff’s Office, along with the County Department of Land and Water Resources, have posting signs informing lake users about the Slow/No Wake Order.
